Would you like to join us at 3rd Kingston?
Scouting is for adults too!
We are a thriving Group, but unfortunately our popularity means that we have a waiting list of young people wanting to join us; local young people who are currently missing out on the fun and adventure! We are trying hard to reduce this list and the easiest way of doing this is to get more adult help - from people who want to have a brilliant time; people such as yourself! Volunteering in Scouting is fun and rewarding.
We believe in flexible volunteering and offer a number of adult volunteering roles that suit a range of skills.
Everyone has something to offer
You may think that you don't have any skills to offer, but the truth is that everyone has something to offer. We are not all Bear Grylls! Maybe you can cook, have first aid knowledge or organise a few games, or maybe you're a DIY whizz? Do you have any hobbies or interests that you could share with the young people? All you need to do is let us know your availability and how you would be able to help. You don't have to become a Leader
Why?
-
Try new things and gain qualifications such as first aid
-
Use your current skills and gain new ones
-
You can give as much or as little time as you would like
-
Be an active member of our community
-
Meet new people
-
Build confidence and have fun
Did you know?
-
All Scout volunteers are unpaid and the majority have a full-time job and family
- 60% of our leaders are female
- Not all our leaders are parents (in fact about 50% aren't)
-
Some of our volunteers help out on a flexible basis due to other commitments
-
Volunteers don't have to wear uniform
-
All adults are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy while taking part in Scouting
-
All adults go through a criminal records check to ensure they are fit to work with young people
So: you like to have fun and would like to Join The Adventure?
We are always very pleased to hear from anyone over the age of 18 (if you are between 14 and 18, you could become a Young Leader) who might like to help out as either an occasional helper or as a leader or you might prefer a role 'behind the scenes' as a Trustee of the Charity. The only pre-requisite is that you are willing to enjoy yourself and that you enjoy helping our local young people gain Skills For Life!
Yep! - that's it:
-
You don't have to become a leader in uniform
-
You don't have to be a parent
-
You don't have to come along every week
However, if you do want to become a leader (and you don't have to decide straight away), you don't have to know everything. You'll be given full training and you'll learn new skills as you progress. We will pay for this training and we will also pay for your uniform.
